A few years back I spent an afternoon trying to sign a one-page contract. The tool I used wanted my credit card up front, tried to rope me into a 30-day trial, and took nearly a minute to render a PDF that should have loaded instantly. I stared at the price tag — $25 a month — and thought, this should just be free.
SignBolt is what came out of that afternoon. A PDF signing tool that starts with free, moves in seconds, and doesn't pretend to be an enterprise platform to justify an enterprise price.
Why I'm building this from Perth
SignBolt is the first product out of SeaQae Group— a Western Australian company with a specific worldview. Our ancestors sailed the Pacific for thousands of years, carrying crops, language, and culture between islands that had never met each other. They were navigators. Entrepreneurs. They shipped across oceans before the word "ship" meant software.
That's the ethos SeaQae runs on. We build tools that move — fast, honestly, and for people who were never the target customer of the incumbents. SignBolt is one of those tools. There will be more.
What you're actually paying for
The paid plans on SignBolt exist for one reason: so I can keep building. Not so I can add a sales team, inflate feature matrices, or list on an exchange.
That shows up in how things are priced. Free is generous on purpose — 3 documents a month, forever, no trial expiry. Pro is $8/month or $57 annual for 50 documents. Business is $24/month flat for a whole workspace, not per-seat. No per-user punishment. No annual contracts with nine months of lock-in.
A few principles this runs on
- Your files are never stored. Signed PDFs are processed in memory and returned to you. Only an audit record (timestamp, SHA-256 hash, signer) is kept — for legal proof.
- Your data is yours. Export everything, any time. No retention hostage.
- The free tier is free forever.Not a trial. Not a teaser. If 3 documents a month is all you need, that's all you need.
- No surprise pricing.The price you see on day one is the price on day 365. I'll never grandfather you onto a surprise tier.
